Ludhiana: High drama was once witnessed at the last day of submitting nominations for the general body elections of Lodhi Club, which is scheduled to take place on February 17. Three applicants, who weren't expected to contest the elections previous, seemed at the last moment and filed their papers surprising their opponents.
The most surprising entry was once that of former bar secretary of Lodhi Club, Jagatveer Singh Bittu, who filed his nomination for the same post. Notably, a few months in the past, Bittu had tendered his resignation from his post and then Pradeep Agrawal who also is the president of the membership was once appointed as the brand new bar secretary via deputy commissioner. In addition to Bittu, Amrit Bhambri was once every other wonder entry who filed his nomination for the post of joint secretary. Another last minute entry was once that of Vibhor Garg who filed his nomination for the post of mess secretary. With such construction, the total number of applicants contesting for ten different posts has now reached to 23.
Officials of district management led via ADC Jagraon Neeru Katyal who has been appointed as observer for those elections gained the nomination papers of the contesting applicants. As per the election agenda, the scrutiny of nomination papers might be held on Saturday whilst the eligible applicants might be given the technique to withdraw their nominations till Sunday afternoon and then the overall record of applicants might be released. On Friday, majority of applicants were seen rushing to the golf equipment caterers for taking NOCs which is compulsory for submitting nominations.
There are 10 different posts for which the applicants might be combating out against each different. While two applicants are competing for different posts, joint secretary, sports activities secretary and bar secretary are the 3 posts on which there is three-way competition.
The increasing craze for contesting elections and being selected as place of business bearer of this prestigious membership is obvious from the truth that this time two state government officers, Parminder Singh (govt engineer of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) and Avinash Jinda (senior medical officer) are contesting the Lodhi Club elections and coincidentally either one of them are fighting elections against each different. Businessman Ram Sharma might be contesting for the post of sports activities secretary.
