Ludhiana: Taking observe of accelerating circumstances of suicides and clashes inside Punjab jails, jail minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Saturday sought help of an NGO to conduct a survey on mental health of inmates and get started a rehabilitation centre thereafter.
Accompanied by means of representatives of NGO Roundglass Foundation, Randhawa took a spherical on the Ludhiana Central Jail on Tajpur Road.
The NGO has meanwhile recommended to start yoga, meditation, counselling and sports actions to engage jail inmates.
Further the inmates may also be fascinated with organic farming.
Official said as the lone counsellor is a woman, maximum inmates hesitate in sharing their emotions and issues with her.
Randhawa said, “We will attempt to make Ludhiana a fashion rehabilitation centre with the help of the NGO. All inmates wish to be counselled to have a better mental health. The NGO will whole its survey and will quickly get started meditation, yoga and counselling of inmates.”
