Nandanam residents file FIR against dog rapist

CHENNAI: City-based organisation Almighty Animal Care Trust has lodged a complaint with police pronouncing a tea stall employee in Nandanam raped a dog in the neighbourhood.

Residents stated that round 1.30am on Sunday, they caught the youth in the act and let him off with a warning. "However, he did not leave the area," stated Meenatchi Sundaram, a resident. "We have seen this man trying to befriend homeless dogs late at night on several other occasions and suspect that he is a habitual offender,"he stated.

After being alerted by the residents on Tuesday afternoon, Sai Vignesh, president of Almighty Animal Care Trust, lodged the police complaint. He also produced CCTV footage recorded by a nearby hospital that confirmed the man with the dog. The footage does not display the act, which residents stated used to be done at the back of the quilt of a automotive before he used to be caught on the camera.

"Raping an animal is a punishable offence under sections 377 and 429 of the IPC, and we have requested that an FIR be lodged immediately." stated Vignesh. "Such perpetrators pose a threat also to women and children. Awareness must be raised among people to approach authorities as soon as they sense suspicious activities," he stated.

Saidapet police inspector Pugazhendi T, on the other hand, stated the video proof didn't absolutely substantiate the complaint.

"We saw the CCTV footage and it doesn't show any abuse to the animal. This man seems to be inebriated and petting the animal. In any case, we will question him," he stated.
