KOLKATA: The temptation to observe the primary day, first display of a film along with his female friend landed an alleged master cheat in cop net recently. The suspect - Danish Ali - at the side of three others had been working in Kolkata for the last 12 months, duping e-commerce corporations.
Police stated Ali's modus operandi was unique. The gang ordered products - principally digital items - online. When they arrived, they removed the goods from the box, replaced them with erroneous or damaged goods and despatched them back. Of late, they'd transform so confident that they began returning empty containers.
"The Entally police was trying to locate Ali. The detective department's anti-cheating unit launched a probe and narrowed down on him. He is now being interrogated. We believe that some of the delivery boys were involved in the crime," an investigating officer stated.
Once they acquired the goods, the crowd would promote them online or in Kolkata's grey markets. They procured a couple of SIM playing cards and made several accounts with bogus addresses on e-commerce websites. When the delivery boy would fail to locate area and make contact with them, a gang member guided them to a place where they won the bundle.
Police stated the delivery persons, too, needed to be on their guard. "Only when the returned item satisfies the basic requirements should the delivery boy accept it," an officer stated.
The cybercell and anti-bank fraud officers of the detective division stated around 50% of the entire circumstances registered below the IT Act were associated with fraudulent sales.
