Punjabi University gets Rs 50 crore grant

PATIALA: In the second one phase of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (Rusa), Punjabi University, Patiala, has been prolonged a grant of Rs 50 crore under entrepreneurship, innovation and career hubs scheme of the Union ministry of human useful resource development.

The university authorities mentioned that the school used to be one of the vital 66 institutes of higher education in India to have gained the grant.


The funds will now be used to strengthen get admission to and equality; bettering high quality and excellence; innovation, entrepreneurship, and employability.


The announcement to this effect used to be made by way of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, from Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar.


While addressing a gathering of faculty, research scholars and scholars at the occasion, vice-chancellor Professor B S Ghuman mentioned that at least Rs 15 crore shall be reserved for talent enhancement and to generate employability a number of the students.


"At least six innovative research centres comprising cutting-edge equipment and hi-end infrastructure will be created to run job-oriented courses. All departments will be asked to prepare research proposals in a bid to apply for grants under entrepreneurship, innovation and career hubs project," the vice-chancellor Ghuman mentioned.
