Security ramped up for last shahi snan

Allahabad: With over two crore pilgrims anticipated to take a dip in Sangam on Basant Panchami on Sunday, Mela police beefed up safety at the Kumbh-2019 venue and deployed more body of workers at the floor an afternoon earlier than the 3rd shahi snan of Kumbh-2019.
Basant Panchami, to be observed on Sunday, will be the closing shahi snan of the Kumbh Mela.

On Saturday, Mela police performed a crowd management workout for its body of workers on six points of the ground—Kali Marg, Triveni Marg, Sangam nostril, Sangam Lower Marg, Akshayvat marg and Mahavir Marg.

Police mentioned that 12 deputy SPs, 24 inspectors, 500 policemen and two firms of the Border Security Force (BSF) were deployed as part of the protection preparations for the snan.

SSP (Kumbh) KP Singh, mentioned, “As Basant Panchami would be the closing shahi snan of the Kumbh Mela, we've got limited the movement on pontoon bridges from one to 5.” Singh mentioned that pontoon bridges quantity 6 and seven can be open for devotees as they connect Parade Ground space and Jhunsi.


He also mentioned that more volunteers have been roped in at the ghats stretching across eight kilometre for regulating the crowd.


Singh mentioned that pontoon bridge quantity 9 to 16 can be open for devotees going from Jhunsi space to Parade Ground space, while devotees commuting from Parade Ground space to Arial Ghat space may use pontoon bridge quantity 18 -20.


Mela district magistrate Vijay Kiran Anand, mentioned, “The Mela management would make sure that akharas practice instructions about the collection of vehicles allowed and the timings all through the shahi snan.”
