Winnability will be the sole criterion for seat sharing, says Siddaramaiah

HUBBALLI/BENGALURU: Even as Congress and JD(S) speak about seat sharing for the Lok Sabha polls, former CM Siddaramaiah on Monday mentioned winnability will be the best criterion, not the ratio to percentage seats.
"Seat sharing cannot be on any ratio but should be on winnability as defeating BJP is the primary goal of both parties coming together," Siddaramaiah instructed reporters in Hubballi on Monday, whilst hoping that they'd reach an amicable settlement quickly.

His observation comes within the backdrop of JD(S) not easy one-third of 28 Lok Sabha seats for itself on the lines of parties sharing cabinet berths, forums and corporations and parliamentary secretary posts. While Congress got two-third cabinet berths, the JD(S) got one-third.

Meanwhile, state unit chiefs of Congress and JD(S) Dinesh Gundurao and A H Vishwanath, deputy CM G Parameshwara and PWD minister HD Revanna mentioned seat sharing in Bengaluru.

Both parties, in keeping with sources, mentioned strengths and weaknesses in each and every constituency and arrived at a casual determination. "Barring four or five contentious seats like Tumakuru, Mysuru, Chikkaballapura and Bengaluru North, the meeting finalised who should contest which seat. The Siddaramaiah-headed coordination committee will take a final call in two to three days soon," mentioned a senior JD(S) leader.

'I am in state politics now, I'll continue there'

Gundurao mentioned, "Senior leaders of both parties, including Siddaramaiah and HD Deve Gowda, will meet soon and decide." Siddaramaiah denied experiences he used to be transferring to nationwide politics. "I won't contest from anywhere - be it Koppal, Dharwad or Mysuru. I'm in state politics now, I'll continue there," the former CM added.

Siddaramaiah mentioned AICC president Rahul Gandhi used to be expected to visit Karnataka on March nine.
