Dharmapuri: Two motorcycle-borne unidentified men snatched a gold chain weighing 18 sovereigns from a 43-year-old girl right here on Friday evening.
According to the Dharmapuri the city police, the incident took place mins after Palaniammal, along with her husband V Ganesah, 50, of Melendapatty village, releasing her gold chain that she had pledged to a nationalized financial institution in the the city.
“They had pledged the chain a 12 months ago. On Friday evening, they settled the mortgage amount and launched the chain,” stated a police officer.
As they came out of the financial institution with the chain, two motorcycle-borne men approached them and told that some foreign money notes were discovered on highway. “When the couple grew to become to assemble the foreign money notes, the duo suddenly grabbed the hand bag containing the chain and Rs 40,000 cash from Palaniammal and sped away,” the officer stated.
The couple lodged a criticism with the Dharmapuri the city police, who registered a case and launched a probe into the incident.
