Congress workers oppose JD(S) getting Udupi-Chikkamagaluru seat

UDUPI: A seat sharing arrangement between coalition partners in Karnataka that has given Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency to the JD(S), has disappointed the rank and file of the Congress right here. The constituency that normally witnessed a straight fight between Congress and BJP, being passed on a platter to the JD(S), where the birthday party has minimal presence, has prompted the Congress to release a ‘Go Back JD(S)’ marketing campaign.

Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of the Udupi district unit of BJP, mentioned, “Congress has committed political suicide through giving up the seat to the JD(S), and the BJP gets an enormous benefit because of it. The ticket has been given to a birthday party which has no presence in the district, and the birthday party which could give us competition has been stored out. It is a mockery of the democratic machine. This will lend a hand our candidate win with out breaking any sweat.”

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president of Udupi District Congress Committee, mentioned, “ Most staff, together with me, aren't pleased with the verdict. We do have superb leaders in Udupi. Let somebody contest from the Congress birthday party, but now not from the JD(S). We are sure to move with the top command. We have brought this to the notice of Oscar Fernandes and different leaders of the birthday party. JD(S) is 100% depending on us right here, as they don't have any presence in Udupi. In the sort of situation, convincing the voter a couple of new face will be a big problem for our staff.”

Yogesh Shetty, president of the district unit of JD(S), mentioned, “As according to the alliance arrangement, 20 seats has been given to Congress and 8 to JD(S). We will claim our candidate in 3 days. We will fight as one, with out differentiating between events. All leaders and former leaders of Congress have agreed to the top command’s resolution, and are in a position to fight the BJP. We will fight the elections through telling the people in regards to the construction works taken up through leader minister H D Kumaraswamy, and we are also in a position to welcome former minister Jayaprakash Hegde into our fold, if he intends to sign up for our birthday party.”

Ganesh Saralebettu, a Congress employee, expressed dissapointment at the construction. He mentioned, “By giving the seat to JD(S), the Congress has helped the BJP’s agenda of in need of a Congress-free Udupi. There is no probability of a JD(S) candidate successful right here. If the Congress had fielded a candidate, we may have given a tricky fight to the BJP. It is sad that top Congress leaders in the district are silent regarding this. The only method we will see JD(S) successful here's through making Jayaprakash Hegde contest the polls. He has an enormous fan following, which is able to lend a hand him with Congress toughen.”

Pramod Madhwaraj, former minister and Congress leader, told IdealNews that it is an era of alliances. “In Karnataka, Congress has shaped an alliance with JD(S), and because of this we will be able to have to house our alliance spouse. I know Congress staff are dissatisfied, but we must paintings together for the betterment of the rustic, and be united to ensure a win for the JD(S). I will be able to abide through whatever the top command tells us.”
