Farmer arrested for growing poppy crop in Hisar village

HISAR: Hisar police have arrested a farmer for allegedly cultivating poppy crop on more than 20 yards of land in his field at Dhadh village in the district. Police have seized 60.12 kg of the crop.


Cops are interrogating the farmer, identified as Devi Ram, who has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.


In his grievance, sub-inspector Rajkumar mentioned he had received a tip-off on the farmer allegedly cultivating poppy crop on about 20-25 yards of land in his farm. Afterwards, he visited the farm and clicked pictures of the poppy crop cultivation.


DSP Sanjay Kumar also visited the spot following which the crop was harvested.


The investigation of the case has been handed over to ASI Ajmer Singh.
