JAIPUR: While speaking about ‘Urban India and Rural Bharat’ divide, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday expressed want to make it obligatory for MBBS graduates to serve in rural spaces before granting the primary promotion to them.

He was delivering the third Convocation Address of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, in Jaipur, on Tuesday.

“One of the ways to triumph over scarcity of medical doctors, particularly in rural spaces is to make it obligatory for MBBS graduates to serve in rural spaces before granting the primary promotion to them,” he said.


He steered the private sector must supplement the efforts of the government, especially in bridging the urban-rural divide. “An house of shock that must be addressed is the lopsided infrastructure construction within the well being sector. Stating that training laid the root for the growth of a country, the Vice President said that the proper of training would inculcate citizenship values, unlock people from lack of understanding, empower them with wisdom, information, talents and equip them to absorb new roles and responsibilities to shape now not best their very own destinies but also the destiny of the country.
