‘Sakhi’ polling station in all constituencies

Ludhiana: Women officers posted within the district were given larger duties for the impending Lok Sabha elections, said district election officer-cum-Ludhiana deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal.

Agrawal said, “Additional deputy commissioner (building) Dr Shena Aggarwal is the extra district election officer, Ludhiana; ADC (Jagraon) Neeru Katyal Gupta, assistant commissioner (normal) Poonam Preet Kaur and district income officer Savita are nodal officials for different election related actions; Sumit Mudh, Jeevanjot Kaur, Geetika Singh, Sonam Chaudhary, Swati Tiwana would be assistant returning officials for different constituencies.”


“Anju Bala is posted as election tehsildar, but even so several ladies law enforcement officials would be on responsibility for the elections,” he added.


To make certain maximum participation of girls within the election process, ‘Sakhi’ polling station would be established at all Vidhan Sabha constituencies and most effective ladies workforce would be deputed at those polling stations.


Agrawal said a special emphasis is being given against increasing the balloting percentage and this is why, the district administration is creating awareness among first-time voters, another way abled, ladies, labour, third gender, NRIs.
