Sensex gains 482 points to finish above 37,500

NEW DELHI: Markets on Tuesday witnessed robust positive factors for the second one consecutive consultation with the benchmark BSE Sensex rising 482 issues or 1.30 per cent to near at 37,536. In two days, the 30-share BSE barometer has surged 865 issues amid broad-based buying on expectancies that the incumbent NDA executive gets a 2nd term. On the other hand, the broader NSE Nifty moved 133 issues or 1.19 per cent up to settle at 11,301.

On the BSE index, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, L&T, Sun Pharma and Reliance Industries have been among the primary gainers with their shares surging as much as 4.61 per cent. 19 out of 30 shares resulted in green at the 30-share Sensex pack.

On NSE, aside from for Nifty IT and PSU financial institution, all other sub-indices moved up, surging as much as 2.13 per cent.


Experts said that the key indices prolonged the pre-election rally following the announcement of 2019 basic election dates.


Vinod Nair, head of analysis, Geojit Financial Services, mentioned that markets persisted to rally after declaration of election date with opinion poll suggesting an edge to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).


"Since many stocks are available at cheap valuation, investors are rushing to high quality mid and small caps to participate in the pre-election rally," he said
