COIMBATORE: Six participants of a circle of relatives died when a car they have been travelling in fell into the Parambikulam -Aliyar-Project (PAP) canal close to Pollachi in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased have been known as Prakash, 45, of Masakkalipalayam, his wife Chitra, 40, his daughter Pooja, eight, his elder sister S Sumathi, 50, his brother Panneerselvam’s wife Latha, 42, and their daughter Dharani, nine.
The coincidence took place around 2am when they have been returning house after providing visiting Lord Murugan temple in Palani.
Prakash was riding the auto. When they reached Kedimedu house at the Udumalpet -Pollachi Road, Prakash misplaced regulate of the auto. The car hit the parapet of the canal and fell into the water.
Villagers, who saw the auto in the canal around 5am, informed the Gomangalam police who rushed to the spot. The police retrieved the bodies from the auto and sent them to the Pollachi Government Hospital for postmortem.
