VARANASI: In a recent stone pelting incident through anti-social parts on Sunday, no less than 9 windowpanes of India’s quickest train- Vande Bharat Express- were damaged near Sarsaul railway station in Kanpur Nagar district.
After registering a case in this connection, GRP Varanasi transferred it to Maharajpur police station in Kanpur on Monday for further investigation.
Inspector (GRP) Varanasi Cantt railway station, Ashok Kumar Dubey said when the train reached right here from Delhi on Sunday afternoon the railway officers lodged an FIR in opposition to eight unidentified individuals for attacking the train.
In their complaint, the railway officers mentioned that Varanasi-bound Vande Bharat Express left Kanpur after scheduled stoppage and when it used to be passing throughout the outskirts of Sarsaul railway station, eight youths standing near railway tracks began pelting stones on it. A complete of 9 windowpanes were damaged, then again, no passenger suffered injuries in the incident fortunately.
Dubey said that once the train reached right here, officers gave a written complaint and then an FIR used to be lodged underneath Section 52 of Railway Act, Sections 147, 149, 336 of IPC and Section 7 of Criminal Law Act. As the area of incident lied in Kanpur Nagar district, he said, the case used to be transferred to police station involved for further investigation and motion.
The GRP officers said this used to be 2d FIR lodged in connection with attacking Vande Bharat Express in this area. Earlier, an FIR used to be lodged with Suriyava police in Bhadohi district last month, they said. Since its introduction between Delhi and Varanasi on February 18, the train have been attacked more than seven times, said the officers.
