BENGALURU: Sumalatha Ambareesh, spouse of overdue Congress leader MH Ambareesh on Monday introduced that she will be contesting the impending parliamentry elections from Mandya as an independent candidate.
"Everybody I have met in Mandya has told me the faith they had in MH Ambareesh, they will transfer that to me. That way we can keep his memory alive. The decision I have taken if it hurts anyone, I apologise. I am taking this step to continue his legacy," mentioned Sumalatha.
She will be contesting in opposition to former Prime Minister Deve Gowda's grandson Nikhil Gowda of JD(S). BJP is but to announce its candidate for the high stake seat.
MH Ambareesh represented Mandya thrice within the Lok Sabha.
