HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has bagged four Member of Legislative Council (MLC) seats and All India Majlis e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) the fifth seat in the council elections held under the MLA quota on Tuesday. Polling was once held on Tuesday to replenish the five MLC vacancies that was once boycotted through the Congress at the grounds that the ruling celebration has been engineering defections of its participants.
After counting of votes, the returning officer declared TRS candidates Mohd Mahmood Ali, Seri Subash Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod and Egge Mallesham and AIMIM candidate Mirza Riyaz ul Hasan as having been declared elected as MLCs. TRS has fielded four candidates, its ally AIMIM one candidate and Congress fielded Guduru Narayan Reddy. For a candidate to emerge victorious, the fortify of 21 MLAs is needed.
