Two men drown after being thrown into canal

PATNA: A rice mill owner and one among his staff drowned once they had been thrown right into a canal by unidentified other people in Bihar's Rohtas district, police said on Wednesday.


Manikchandra Gupta, 45, owner of Khushbu Rice Mill, and his employee Gopal Shah, 40, had been returning to their village Laheri beneath the Parsathua police station, on Tuesday night time when they spotted some other people stealing rice from the mill and raised an alarm.


The burglars, on the other hand, attacked and overpowered them and threw them right into a canal after tying their palms and feet to a motorcycle.


Their bodies had been recovered by villagers on Wednesday morning, a district police officer said.


Police have lodged a case and is looking for the culprits.
