BJP MLA chases down mobile phone snatchers

Surat: The fitness of Mukesh Patel, BJP MLA from Olpad constituency, was once put to check by two bike-borne robbers, who snatched his cell phone and sped away here on Monday.
He ran at the back of them for a few metres and in the long run chased them down on a motorcycle. Patel kicked the bike-borne robbers whilst driving the bike next to which they fell and were arrested. The MLA suffered minor injuries on his knees and thighs and was once treated by the paramedics of an 108 ambulance.

Police arrested Mohammad Mahir Mehmood Ghanchi and Tausif Abdul Diwan, both citizens of Kosad, for looking to rob Patel of his cell phone. They targeted the MLA when he was once out on morning walk at around 5.20am near ISKCON circle in Jahangirpura. They got here from at the back of on a motorcycle and snatched Patel’s phone. Patel held the phone tight and the robbers may not clutch it. The cell phone fell on street.

Patel started operating at the back of them after which took raise from a passerby on his bike. They chased the robbers up to Saroli bridge where the MLA kicked the bike of the robbers. They were nabbed by folks when the duo fell on street.


“I had managed to save lots of my phone. Yet I chased down the robbers just to nab them. I kicked them whilst driving pillion on a passerby’s bike. The robbers were handed over to police,” Patel told TOI.


The MLA was once targeted around 500 metres away from his space in Jahangirpura. Patel said police do carry out common patrolling on street and that they arrived right away on the spot when alerted.


The city witnessed highest choice of cellular and chain-snatching instances in a month in February. A total of 110 instances were registered in just 28 days, highest up to now few years.
