THANE: A head constable with town crime department spent over a month in cover close to the Chambal ravines and effectively nabbed a murder accused who was on the run for 12-years.

Head constable Anand Bhillare took safe haven in Mehandawa the town of Rain taluka in MP and masked himself as a villager to nab Rajkumar Rajawat, who was in hiding in his hometown after killing a person in Dombivili in 2007. Rajawat was one of the vital four accused in the murder of a 27-year-old Dombivili resident Shailendra Singh Dansingh Shekhawat in 2007 and was not-traceable since then, said DCP ( crime) Deepak Deoraj.


The floor paintings to nab Rajawat was tasked to the head constable Bhillare attached to the crime department who camped for over a month on the small hamlet of Mehandawa close to Uttar Pradesh border.

The head constable left nothing to chance, dwelling in a thatched hut, mingling with locals and doing petty jobs to keep an hawk-eye on the accused’s actions. Bhillare also seldom used his cell usage but examined all of the actions of accused to entice the unsuspecting accused all on my own.


After doing all of the required floor paintings, Bhillare along side a group led by way of senior inspector Nitin Thakre halted a specific spot in the far-off box the place Rajawat used to come on my own. “It was on Monday, Rajawat who was into farming, came on my own at a spot handiest to seek out the sleuths of crime department who pinned him down and taken him again for the additional probe,” said the officer.


Deoraj informed TOI, the deceased 27 a local of Jaipur in Rajastan used to take money from the needy and provide them in another country jobs. “He had taken money from the two individuals Narendra Rajavat, and Pintusingh Rajawat of Dombivili but didn't get them the job nor did he return their money. “The duo were given agitated and with the help of different two Rajkumar Rajawat and Rishi Dong strangulated to dying the Shekhawat and to destroyed the evidence, wrapped the frame in a scarf and dumped it in a nullah. An offence was then registered at Vishnu Nagar police station on March 21, 2007 in Dombivali under various sections.


But the foursome controlled to escape and weren't traceable since then. It was on May 13, 2008 a chargesheet was filed in the courtroom with all requisite proofs. As the accused weren't traceable a proclamation notice was issued by way of the courtroom on February 02,2019. Simultaneously, Thane police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar launched the special pressure to track the absconding criminals. Accordingly, the police carried out this operation.
