Gurgaon: A former national-level handball player was once arrested for allegedly seeking to sell country-made pistols to criminals, police said on Thursday. The crime branch claims to have seized 4 such pistols from Manjeet alias Rajveer (33).
A resident of Badsa in Jhajjar, Manjeet was once arrested in Dhankot village on Wednesday, police said, adding a case has been registered against him below the Arms Act at Rajendra Park police station.
During the interrogation, Manjeet said his carrying occupation had ended after he suffered a ligament fracture. Following this, he got into having a bet, however quickly started dropping cash. With a debt of over Rs five crore striking over his head, and moneylenders repeatedly issuing threats, the one-time sportsperson purchased 4 country-made pistols from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain for Rs 2 lakh.

Manjeet allegedly advised police that he used to play handball at school and school. Twice he participated in inter-university competitions and once in an all-India college festival. His staff came third within the latter. It was once during this era that he got injured.
After his occupation in sports activities ended, Manjeet purchased a plot in Dhankot and started a financing firm. Around this time, he was once also introduced to having a bet.
