BENGALURU: A thief who specialized in stealing valuables from families mourning their close to and dear ones has landed in police custody. Officials have recovered booty worth Rs 26 lakh from him. Muniraju C, 45, from Ramachandrapura close to Sriramapura, worked as a supplier in a hotel.
Nagabhushan Reddy, a landlord in Maragondanahalli village, close to Hennur, had filed a robbery case with Avalahalli police. Nagabhushan alleged that a miscreant had stolen gold and money from his space on March 28, when his circle of relatives was once busy acting the overall rites of his grandmother. The family members filed a grievance on April 4 .
Ram Nivas Sepat, superintendent of police (Bengaluru Rural), formed a distinct workforce after he learnt that the district police had did not crack nine similar circumstances .
The workforce headed through Sajeeth VJ, additional superintendent of police, verified CCTV pictures from areas round Nagabhushan’s space and zeroed in on a motorbike. Police traced the accused in Ramachandrapura with the assistance of the automobile’s registration number. “We arrested Muniraju on April 12 and recovered 850 grams of bijou and a motorbike worth Rs 26.7 lakh from him,” said Sepat.
