Traffic cops recover bag left by bride in app cab

KOLKATA: A visitors sergeant labored beyond his duty hours and recovered a bag containing gold adorns and other items, which a would-be bride had left behind in an app cab. Krishnendu Das, the sergeant from Shyambazar visitors guard, accompanied by means of constables Montu Ram Mahato and Tapas Kar passed over the valuables to the bride and groom on the marriage hall on Galif Street on Wednesday.
The bride's circle of relatives was once overwhelmed and stated: "It was the best gift they have received. We had almost given up the hope of getting the bag back. But we are thankful to the officers for their help."

Sergeant Krishnendu Das and constables Montu Ram Mahato and Tapas Kar quit the bag to the newly-wed couple

On Wednesday, Neha Mukherjee, the bride, had taken the app cab from Sovabazar where she had long gone for her make-up. While getting off round 7pm, she forgot to take her trolley bag containing a gold chain, two gold rings and other things, that have been needed for the rituals. "When my daughter realised that she had forgotten to take her bag, the driver had left the place," stated Debananda Mukherjee, the bride's father.

The circle of relatives then noticed the visitors sergeant on the crossing of Galif Street and KVV Avenue. They approached Das for help who urged them to first sign in a complaint to the cab operator during the app.

The operator helped the circle of relatives get in touch with the driver, Sheikh Raju, who advised them that no bag had been left within the automotive. He started making excuses that he had travelled to Madhyamgram and would lose money for cancelling a ride booked just then.

But the visitors sergeant persuaded the driver to come back with the bag because it contained some articles, without which the rituals for marriage would no longer be completed. Das also promised Raju to catch up on the loss on cancelling a trip.

"The driver came back with the bag at around 10pm and he was scared if the police would arrest him. So, I stood at a distance as the two constables recovered the bag with all the objects intact," stated Das. The bride's father gave Rs 1,000 to the driver as a token of appreciation, whilst Das and the two constables passed the bag to the bride and the groom.
