CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Corporation has informed the Madras high courtroom that distributors will not be allowed to position up any permanent and even transient constructions on the Marina seaside. Instead, they'd be authorised to use push carts, best between 2pm and 9pm.
Additional recommend basic S R Rajagopal made the submission on behalf of the corporation before the division bench of Justice S Manikumar and Justice Subramonium Prasad.
This aside, two 900 watt LED high-mast flood lighting can be installed on the seaside, along with the prevailing ones, to make sure protection, the corporation stated.
Pointing out the submission made by the principal leader conservator of forests that Olive Ridley turtles come to the ocean shore between 12.30am and 4am to lay eggs and go back to the ocean, between December and March, the courtroom instructed the corporation to imagine the rules and take suitable choice while fixing the lighting. The presence of light diverts the turtles against the shoreline and they face the risk of having killed by dashing automobiles.
Regarding the rules for distributors, corporation submitted that it has come up with byelaws in opposition to which the distributors had raised objections. “The corporation had steered that shops must be allowed to function between 4pm and 9pm. However, paying attention to the difficulties expressed by the distributors, it has been determined to permit the shops to open from 2pm to 9pm, with a 30-minute grace time, if required,” Rajagopal stated.
The distributors can be allocated 48sq.ft which is the prevailing arrangement as there was no objection to the allocated house. The distributors have also consented that they are going to deliver best push carts and won't put up any transient or permanent construction on the seaside, the corporation added.
Recording the same, the bench directed the corporation to record a file with main points of the selection of shops to be accommodated, where of location, how the shops could be arrayed, cooking and use of cylinders.
