NEW DELHI: Investors changed into poorer by way of Rs eight.53 lakh crore in just nine trading sessions as benchmark sensex shed 1,941 issues amid issues over US-China business tensions and poll outcome.

On Monday, the 30-share Sensex crashed 372.17 issues or zero.99 in keeping with cent to close at 37,090.82 issues. It was once the ninth-straight session that the benchmark index closed in the crimson.

Sensex logs 9th straight loss, crashes 372 issues

Continuing their losing spell for a ninth session in a row on Monday, the BSE sensex crashed over 372 issues and the NSE Nifty dived nearly 130 issues on sustained sell-off across the board. The index widened its loss towards the fag-end on emergence of intense promoting in heavyweights like ITC, RIL and ICICI Bank.


In the 30-share pack, Sun Pharma was once the biggest loser with a decline of 9.39 in keeping with cent. A total of 23 scrips in the index witnessed sell-off, as in keeping with an research of market information.

Sectorally, BSE healthcare, capital goods, energy, oil and gasoline, metal, auto, power and banking indices fell up to three.53 in keeping with cent.


In the broader market, the BSE midcap and smallcap indices settled up to 2.15 in keeping with cent decrease.


On the BSE, 1,889 scrips declined while 575 advanced and 180 remained unchanged


As many as 289 scrips hit their 52-week low on BSE on Monday.


The Indian rupee too has been seeing volatility and it fell 59 paise to close at 70.51 in opposition to the US greenback on Monday.
