Lost for 6 years, kid reunited with family

Railway Childline tracks down the now 16-year-old’s relations in Ludhiana after he published new details

Missing for over six years, 16-yearold Chandan Sharma has after all reunited together with his family due to the Railway Childline staff and SATHI, a non-governmental organisation. Chandan had left his house in Ludhiana on the lookout for his more youthful brother who used to be lacking and accidentally boarded a Punebound teach. After reaching the city he used to be in a state of concern and could not remember his whereabouts.

SATHI were given involved with a tender Chandan back in 2013 and produced him earlier than the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Chandan used to be unclear where his space used to be and thus CWC ordered to admit him in a childrens house in Shivajinagar. Chandan stayed there for three years earlier than being moved to some other facility in Manchar.

While at the Manchar facility, Chandan were given into a fight with different inmates and later took off from the location. He allegedly walked for 2 days and reached Pune station at the side of two different boys. He used to be once once more contacted through SATHI and produced in front of the CWC which ordered government to trace his family.

While being counselled through the CWC, Chandan published the names of his uncle and aunt who reside Kolkata. SATHI and the Railway Childline staff then contacted a couple of native leaders in Kolkata who directed the query to Kolkata police. Thankfully, Chandan’s uncle and aunt too had lodged a lacking individual grievance in Kolkata and the police have been ready to make sure details equipped through SATHI.

Chandan’s family used to be tracked down in Ludhiana where his father now drives an auto rickshaw tailor whilst his mom works in a factory. Chandan used to be studying in Army Public School in Ludhiana earlier than he left his space.


When speaking to Mirror, Chandan Sharma stated, “It is an overwhelming feeling now that I'm reunited with my family. I don’t remember them very obviously and it seems like a new starting, a feeling that I'm meeting a new family altogether. I'm excited to go back house and meet my siblings and it will be a new surroundings. Staying in Pune has taught me numerous things that may stay with me for life. I'm also conversant in Marathi now.”

Talking about the hardships faced through the Sharma family after Chandan went lacking, his father Laxmi Narayan Sharma stated, “We travelled all places throughout Punjab looking for our kid, we went to the level of drawing near sadhus and held a number of ‘poojas’ hoping to be reunited with Chandan. We misplaced all our money in the procedure of looking for him, I left my tailoring activity and now power an auto rickshaw as I assumed that maybe someday I will in finding my kid whilst using across the town.”


The family will now be taking Chandan back to Ludhiana to begin off a recent life. His folks stated Chandan will proceed his education there and can appear for Class X board exam from his native land.
