The 73-year-old BJD president made a departure from the usual practice of holding the swearing-in ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. He took oath in an open floor within the presence of masses of BJD employees, outstanding personalities from industry and different fields and leaders from across the political spectrum. Governor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of administrative center and secrecy to Patnaik .
