PATIALA: Making a blank sweep the Progressive Teachers’ Alliance had made registered its victory in Punjabi University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) elections that have been conducted on Tuesday after lengthy many years.
Professor on the Department of Law, Dr Bhupinder Singh Virk, is elected because the president of the PUTA. HE bagged 255 votes towards his rival Dr Jaswinder Singh Brar of the Teachers’ United Front.
Harvinder Singh, assistant professor, Mechanical Engineering is elected as Vice-President, Dr Jasdeep Singh Toor – Assistant Professor of Economics is elected as secretary and Dr Rajwinder Singh – assistant professor Punjabi is elected as a Joint Secretary-cum-treasurer of PUTA.
There used to be over 90 % voter turnout. A complete of 501 professors out of 558 individuals of PUTA solid their votes on Tuesday that held peacefully. The Professors contesting from the alliance formed through individuals of Centre for University Teachers and Democratic Teachers’ Council had won the entire administrative center bearer posts and two positions as individuals of the frame.
