Demonetised note case accused steal hotel quilts

KANPUR: Manish Agarwal and Sanjeev Agarwal, accused in hoarding demonetised currency notes in an under-construction space in Tilak Nagar within the city, were booked for now not paying rent and stealing quilts from a lodge in Gumti area of town.
A senior police officer at Nazirabad police station advised TOI that Manish and Sanjeev, who have been hanging up in room no. 401 and 110 at a lodge in Gumti area, have been accused of now not paying rent upto the song of Rs 4 lakh, and stealing two quilts from the lodge.

A lodge respectable Rajesh Kumar stated that each the accused who had checked within the lodge on December 10, 2017 and stayed there until January 16, 2018, didn't pay the lodge rent amounting to Rs 4 lakh. They had also stolen two quilts from the lodge, he added.


The two were booked below sections 380 (Theft in living) and 406 (Punishment for legal breach of trust) of the IPC by way of Nazirabad police and extra investigations are underway on this regard, stated SP (west) Gaurav Grover.


It may be mentioned that National Investigation Agency (NIA) and town police had recovered massive demonetised currency notes from an under-construction space in Tilak Nagar in one of the biggest hauls within the country.


At least 16 other folks along with Manish Agarwal and Sanjeev Agarwal have been arrested on January 16 from the house of a city builder Anand Khatri.
