BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday steered railway minister Piyush Goyal to sanction railway initiatives in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district.

Naveen, in a letter to Goyal, stated railways has now not invested much to increase the pre-independence rail network that was once current within the then princely state of Mayurbhanj.

Stating that the district, a treasure trove in the case of vegetation, fauna and vacationer attainable, Naveen stated the railways after independence has simplest commissioned the gauge conversion paintings at the current unmarried line of 90 km between Rupsa to Bangiriposhi in 2006.
