COIMBATORE: The town police have booked a case towards 6 contract sanitary staff who did not permit the company officers to adopt cleansing paintings at Saibaba colony within the town on Saturday.
As in keeping with R Radhakrishnan, zonal sanitary officer of west zone said garbage was once piling up at the streets after the pageant holidays and the employees weren't prepared to get again to paintings. They had been tough higher bonus and had been indulging in a strike. So we employed some staff who had been prepared to clean up the streets. "But six workers did not let them use the lorry which is a corporation property. They even used abusive language and prevented the other workers from undertaking cleaning work," he said.
The six staff had been recognized as - Sanavas, Iqbal, Rajan, Jhonny, Palinasamy and Jalil and they have got been booked underneath quite a lot of sections of Tamil Nadu police act and Indian Penal code for rioting, wrongful restraint and for deterring a public servant from discharging his duty.
These six had been contracted lorry drivers and cleaners operating with the company for more than 10 years.
R Selvam, normal secretary of Tamil Nadu Colonel Ambdekar Scavenger normal worker union said that the employees did not forestall any company respectable.
"On Saturday morning around 7 am, some private workers came and asked for the key to take the lorry. The workers refused to hand over the keys as it was government property and they could not give it to others. An argument ensued but nothing else took place. This case was registered to stop us from protesting," he said. He added that a meeting was once held at the labour administrative center at the same day within the night time in which the company officers gave in writing that they're going to not take any action on staff of they withdrew the protest. "But now the corporation is not aallowing them to get back to work stating that a case has been registered against them," said Selvam.
Contracted sanitary staff had been promised a bonus of just about Rs4000 and lorry drivers demanded two months wage as bonus for Diwali. "Since the corporation gave them just Rs1000, they protested since Diwali," said a sanitary worker.
Radhakrishnan said that there were 32 lorries indulged in gathering garbage from roads within the west zone of the company and there were 575 contracted sanitary staff. 545 everlasting staff have also been employed. "There are nearly 420 garbage bins of various capacities placed in the zone that were overflowing with garbage. The workers were striking for two days and we were only answerable to the public," he said.
