Doctor dies of anaesthesia 'overdose'; FIR lodged

KANPUR: A 32-year-old doctor died of an alleged overdose of anaesthesia at a private nursing home in Shardanagar on Tuesday. An FIR has been registered towards the doctor who carried out the operation. He has been taken into custody via Kalyanpur police.


Dr Swati Rathore of Thatia house in Kannauj district used to be admitted to a private nursing home in Kalyanpur house for an operation on Monday. Around 2.30am, Dr Anirudh Sengar took Swati to the operation theatre.


A relative said that the circle of relatives believes Swati died due to an overdose of anaesthesia administered to her at the nursing home previous to operation of fissure. Her brother Vimal Rathore has lodged a complaint with Kalyanpur police towards the nursing home and Dr Sengar, who used to be handling the case.
