"As per the locals, the elderly couple used to work as labourers and used to get up early. However, on Monday morning, when they didnt wake up for quite long, few of their neighbours went to take note of the situation. To their shock, they found Baijnath and his wife Bitoli Devi lying in a pool of blood with serious wounds on their neck. They thereafter apprised the Police Control room about the grusesome killings," mentioned SHO Ekdil police station.


When the police reached the spot, they shifted the body to mortuary for post-mortem examination.

"The couple had injuries on their necks, which suggested that they were first smothered by the assailants on their cots itself. It was when they were rendered unconscious, they later used sharp-edged weapons to slit open their necks. The bodies have been sent for post mortem examination, which will establish the cause of death," mentioned additional SP Jitendra Srivastava.


He further mentioned that the couple's two sons are employed in Delhi. Initially, it used to be learnt that the assailants had done couple to demise all through robbery, however it has no longer been clear till now how much money or valuables have been stolen by way of the assailants. "Also the murders doesn't seems to be committed for monetary gains, as they were labourers and had a meagre income. Police is exploring other angles including property related dispute if any," mentioned a police officer further.


"The family of one of their sons stays nearby, but they weren't in touch with them. We have launched a hunt to nab the culprits on the basis of evidences collected from the spot," he mentioned.
