Rajkot: An insignificant haggling over price of firecrackers with a buyer cost a shopowner his life near Nanda Hall on Kothariya Road at the night time of Diwali on Thursday. Police known the deceased as Gopal Solanki (24), a resident of Mafatiyapara near Sinduria Khan on Kothariya Road.
According to police, which arrested the accused on Friday, Inayat Dodhiya (47), his sons—Ahmed Dodhiya (23) and Ramij Dodhiya (27),— brothers — Imran Kayada (24) and Haider Kayada (29), all citizens of Navi Ghanchiwad, Mustaq Dodhiya (25), Nuruddin Bhati (24), each citizens of Ankur Society in Jangleshwar, attacked Gopal and his good friend Gani Modan with bats, iron rods and knives.
While Gani survived the assaults with injures, Gopal was once declared brought dead to the Rajkot Civil Hospital.
"Both Gopal and Gani had opened a firecracker shop near Nanda Hall. On Thursday night at 11pm, Ahmed came to buy firecrackers. He asked Gopal to reduce the price of firecrackers and following a haggling, an altercation broke out between them. Ahmed left the shop only to return with other accused who attacked Gopal and Gani," said Bhaktinagar police station inspector V Okay Gadhvi, adding that the accused had been booked under sections 302, 170 and rioting of the Indian Penal Code.
