Housing board releases Rs 40 crore more for Ghaziabad Metro

GHAZIABAD: The UP Housing & Development Board has released Rs 40 crore more for the continued Metro development work in Ghaziabad on Friday.

Earlier on October three, the housing board had released Rs 30.90 crore to the GDA for the challenge.

"The amount will be transferred by the GDA to DMRC on Monday. The release of funds is expected to boost and speed up construction work of the ongoing project. We expect to complete the project within the scheduled deadline," GDA secretary Ravindra Godbole advised TOI.

The housing board is without doubt one of the 4 stakeholder agencies in UP for the continued Metro challenge that may link Dilshad Garden in Delhi with New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad. The board has a proportion of Rs 440.45 crore in the overall price range of Rs 2,210 crore for the challenge. So far, the board has released a sum of Rs 120.90 crore in 3 instalments from its proportion of finances.

The housing board has released two instalments totalling Rs 70.90 crore in October following the intervention of leader secretary Rajiv Kumar Singh.

The leader secretary had requested all stakeholder state government agencies to liberate their proportion of finances after GDA appealed that the challenge is being behind schedule owing to shortage of cash.
