KANPUR: Lesson learnt after the Pune pitch fiasco, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has beefed up security across the 22-yard strip for the 3rd ODI between India and New Zealand on Sunday.
UPCA appearing secretary Yudhvir Singh said the security officials on the Green Park Stadium were obviously urged to not allow someone into the venue and not using a legitimate go.
The groundsmen too were strictly instruct no longer to talk about the nature of the pitch with someone.
BCCI curator Taposh Chatterjee is overseeing pitch arrangements for the a very powerful game.
"We have to be more careful after the incident in Pune. The police officials have been told that only individuals with valid accreditation can enter the stadium. This practice was already in place but we are extra-cautious now," Singh told PTI ahead of the series decider between India and New Zealand on Sunday.
"The groundsmen too have been instructed that they don't need to discuss the nature of the pitch with anyone. What's the need for that anyway," Singh added.
The extra vigil right here comes after the suspension of Pune curator Pandurang Salgaoncar, who allegedly agreed to tamper the pitch ahead of the second ODI in Pune.
It has been learnt that Shiv Kumar, the tubewell operator who rose to turn into the curator at Green Park, has returned to the venue and has been helping in pitch preparation unofficially.
Kumar was once shifted to Ghazipur ever since UP Police arrested 3 bookies for tampering with playing stipulations before an IPL game previous this 12 months.
The Green Park will host its first ever ODI underneath lighting on Sunday.
