NOIDA: Taking cognizance of largescale proceedings from residents at the deteriorating air high quality, district magistrate B N Singh issued a slew of directives on Saturday to make sure that NGT norms on dust air pollution are properly applied in the town. The builders had been requested to ensure regular watering of structure sites, use lined trucks to hold structure material and use tarpaulin duvet in under-construction sites. The DM also directed immediate implementation of NGT fines for burning of garbage in vacant plots.
"I have instructed officials to ensure compliance of NGT orders on dust pollution and burning of garbage in the city/vacant plots. These directives are not restricted to city magistrate alone, but to all magistrates and authority officials so as to ensure strict compliance of NGT guidelines," B N Singh told TOI.
"We have been complaining of acute dust pollution in sectors 74 to 78 where more than a dozen societies such as Supertech Capetown, Ajnara Grand Heritage Sector 74, J M Aroma, Aims Max Gardenia Sector 75, Prateek Wisteria Sector 77, Mahagun Moderne, AGV 2 Group Sector 78 and more have been facing the problem for long. Of late, the air quality has become so poor that many residents in our area are face breathing problems," said Amit Gupta, a resident of Sector 77.
"It shall be the responsibility of every builder to transport construction material /debris waste to construction/ dumping or any other site/place in accordance with guidelines issued by NGT," said Singh.
Further, measures equivalent to solving sprinklers, developing inexperienced air limitations, obligatory use of wet-jet in grinding and stone chopping and many others. around structure website will probably be obligatory, said Singh.
On burning of garbage in open/vacant plots, Singh said that fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 5 lakh will probably be imposed. "I have issued directives on the range of fines as specified by NGT for burning of garbage in vacant plots. These have to be adhered to strictly," said Singh.
The fines proposed by way of NGT for burning garbage in vacant plots are Rs 10,000 on plots as much as 100 sq., Rs 20,000 on plots over 100sq. however not up to 200 sq., Rs 30,000 on plots over 200 sq. however not up to 500 sq. and Rs 50,000 on plots over 500 sq..
For all projects the place built-up area is greater than 20,000 sq., a tremendous of Rs 5 lakh could be imposed.
We have spotted garbage burning on a vacant plot at the back of Gaur Grandeur apartments in Sector 119 for sometime now and we will sign in a grievance if we realize it again," said Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Sector 119.
