Gurgaon to host workshop on urban farming

GURUGRAM: In an attempt to bring farmers and urban consumers together, the state govt is organising a two-day workshop starting November 29 on the Apparel House in Sector 44 on peri city farming ways — consisting farming in vacant plots and small spaces, together with balconies.


According to the district horticulture officers, the theory is to make sure that the people dwelling in the city spaces have access to recent vegetables, poultry and dairy merchandise and on the identical time the interest of the farmers also are considered. An announcement about the same was once made via the Haryana agriculture minister Om Prakash Dhankar in Gurgaon on Sunday.


"Our objective is to ensure that farming is done in and around the cities as per the requirements of the urban consumers, and at the same time consumers should ensure that farmers get their due," said Dhankar.


The minister called at the youth to attend the workshop to better perceive the nuances of city farming.
