KAKAMIGAHARA (Japan): Indian ladies's hockey crew certified for the World Cup by way of profitable the Asia Cup and captain Rani said it was important for the crew to go into subsequent year's mega match on merit.
"We are all extremely happy that we won the Asia Cup and have earned the qualification for next year's World Cup on merit," said Rani after India defeated China 5-4 by the use of a shootout in the final.
The crew broke a 13-year-old jinx when Rani scored the overall objective and goalkeeper Savita foiled an try from the opponents to ensure a 5-4 win.
"We had numerous younger players in the crew who showed nice spirit in enjoying on this kind of large platform. The crew gave a just right battle to China and China too performed similarly well lately and the match went into penalty shootout.
"It was a prime stage pageant and we didn't drop our stage at any level in the sport. Savita made a super save in unexpected dying and I am satisfied I could convert that objective in unexpected dying."
She said the win has boosted the crew's self belief ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth and Asian Games.
"We wish to especially thank Hockey India and SAI (Sports Authority of India) for his or her persisted make stronger and making sure we get the most efficient amenities. Hopefully we can carry this self belief and motivation into the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games."
India remaining performed in the World Cup in 2010 as they failed to qualify for the 2014 version.
Talking about the shootout, Rani printed that preparing for nerve-racking situations helped the crew pull through.
"We were not pleased with our efficiency in Johannesburg at the World League Semi Final and proper then the crew had decided that we wish to start profitable with a view to acquire that self belief to perform well in most sensible tournaments.
"We worked a lot on creating PCs and Gurjit worked hard on converting PCs during our camps. We were also well prepared for a shootout situation as we were anticipating the knockouts to end in shootouts. All the preparation helped us today."
