Jaipur, Guwahati civic bodies make national anthem mandatory

JAIPUR/GUWAHATI: Jaipur mayor Ashok Lahoti's order mandating that the national anthem and national tune be compulsorily sung at the BJP-ruled municipal frame -at the start of the workday and ahead of going home, respectively -was carried out from Tuesday. Mayor Mrigen Sarania of Guwahati Municipal Corporation issued a equivalent order on Tuesday . Both mayors consider the transfer will lend a hand body of workers get to work on time and encourage them to stay in place of business till the day's finish. Sarania even stated the national anthem will discourage body of workers from wrongdoing at work.

Meanwhile, as all the country debates whether or not singing either may also be made obligatory , Lahoti believes those that have a problem together with his order will have to go to Pakistan.

This would ensure everyone reaches office on time and, more importantly , Ibelieve that after starting work by singing the national anthem, everybody will desist from any wrongdoing at their workplace."


Responding to newshounds' queries about opposition to the transfer, Lahoti stated, "We are not asking people to raise any religious slogan. If someone wants to oppose the national anthem and the national song of the country where one resides, the person is free to do so. But that person should then go to Pakistan."


The mayor's observation invited sharp grievance from the Congress and reignited the debate about judging folks's patriotism.


"No one can dictate to us to go to Pakistan. We don't have to prove our patriotism to anyone.The BJP leaders are adopting such methods simply to divert residents' attention from development issues," Congress spokesperson Pratap Singh Khachariyawas stated.
