Lauer's co-anchor Savannah Guthrie made the announcement at the top of Wednesday's "Today" show.

Guthrie learn a commentary from NBC News chairman Andy Lack, declaring that the company has received an in depth grievance from a colleague Monday night time "about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace" through Lauer. Lack's commentary mentioned the company discovered that when a significant review of the grievance it represented "a clear violation" of the company's standards, and Lauer used to be terminated as a result.

Lack added in his commentary that it used to be the first grievance about Lauer in more than 20 years at NBC, but "we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident."

The transfer comes every week after CBS News fired morning anchor Charlie Rose amid studies of sexual misconduct.
