Coimbatore: The first further district judge (I-ADJ) courtroom sentenced two brothers to lifestyles imprisonment on Friday for murdering a 33-year-old guy at Vellarukkampalayam close to Thondamuthur last yr.
The victim, Ponnusamy, was a labourer, police sources mentioned. "He was chatting with his relative Sakthivel and friend Pappusamy in front of a ration shop on July 7, 2016 when M Aaran alias Aruchamy, 28, and his younger brother M Kittusamy, also labourers, demanded money from Ponnusamy to consume liquor. Ponnusamy refused to give them cash and said that Aruchamy already owes him money. In a fit of rage, Aruchamy attacked Ponnusamy with a broken bottle of liquor, inflicting injuries on his head. Kittusamy fetched a softdrink bottle from a shop and stabbed Ponnusamy. After the deed, the duo ran away from the place,"a police officer mentioned.
Ponnusamy, who was suffering for lifestyles, was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. Thondamuthur police registered a case against the siblings below Section 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (ii) (prison intimidation) and 294 (b) (sings, recites or utters any obscene music, ballad or phrases in or close to any public place) of the Indian Penal Code. Police arrested the duo and remanded them in judicial custody. Meanwhile, Ponnusamy died without responding to the treatment and police alerted the case to 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
