Theft accused dies in police custody

KANPUR: A robbery accused arrested through Kotwali police in Farrukhabad district on Saturday allegedly died in custody.


The inspector of Kotwali police station and a head constable had been sent to lines. Vishal Pathak, a resident of Rampur Rajepur, was once allegedly stuck stealing a two-wheeler parked out of doors a shopping center on Thandi Sadak within the afternoon through the individuals who passed him over to the Kotwali police.


Sometime later, Pathak weas noticed lying subconscious at the flooring of the police station. He was once taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the docs pronounced him useless, the police mentioned.


"A postmortem examination will be conducted to find out the cause of the death," SP Mrigendra Singh mentioned. A case shall be registered after we receive the postmortem file. Inspector Kotwali Anup Nigam and head constable Chotey Lal had been sent to lines for dereliction of responsibility. The statements of different policemen are being recorded, he added.
