2017 Mexico's most violent year in two decades

MEXICO CITY: 2017 used to be Mexico's most violent year in twenty years, with 23,101 murders performed between January and November, according to authentic figures launched Friday.

The number of murders within the first 11 months of this year surpassed the former file of 22,409 killings all over the whole of 2011.


In November alone, 2,212 murders have been recorded -- whilst 2,380 killings have been performed in October, making it the most violent month for the reason that authorities began protecting data twenty years in the past.


Violence has surged throughout Mexico since former president Felipe Calderon's executive declared conflict against the country's tough drug cartels in overdue 2006.


This year, the violence unfold to states which had in the past escaped clashes between cartels -- together with Baja California Sur, a northwestern state well liked by vacationers where the homicide charge has more than doubled from last year's general.
