Fidel Castro's son commits suicide after battling depression

HAVANA: The eldest son of overdue Cuban innovative chief Fidel Castro, Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, committed suicide on Thursday after being handled for months for depression, Cuban state-run media reported.

"Diaz-Balart, who had been attended by a group of doctors for several months due to a state of profound depression, committed suicide this morning," Cubadebate website online said.


Castro, 68, sometimes called "Fidelito" because of how a lot he gave the look of his father, had first of all been hospitalized for depression after which persisted treatment outside of medical institution.


A nuclear physicist who studied in the former Soviet Union, he have been running as a scientific counselor to the Cuban Council of State and Vice-president of the Cuban Academy of Sciences at the time of his death.


His father, who built a communist state on the doorstep of the United States all over the Cold War, died simply over a 12 months in the past, on Nov. 26, 2016, elderly 90.
