COIMBATORE: Do you will have extra medicines and wondering what to do with it? A Coimbatore-based non-profit organisation has placed boxes in various shops asking people to deposit unused and unexpired medicines that will later be allotted in various outdated age homes.
Shanthi Rajashekar, president of the Inner Wheel Club, stated when the club participants visited some outdated age homes, they realised that obtaining medicines for the aged used to be probably the most primary hurdles. "So we decided to do something about it and came up with this idea of donation," she stated.
"People often donate food and clothes. We realised that we have a lot of medicines at home that remain unused and after several months and years, we throw them away. We wanted to collect those medicines and donate it to the old age homes," Shanthi added.
Nirmala Kasturi Rangaiyan, a member of the club, stated that there used to be an enormous shortage of medications in orphanages and outdated age homes and in addition medicines were becoming pricey.
"The shops that give good discounts do not have several medicines that the elderly are in need of. We hope that this will help fill that gap," she stated.
One box has been placed at Pazhamudhir Nilayam on the Trichy Road. Soon one box shall be arrange in each house of the town.
