Gang held for running fake cancer fund

NOIDA: Three men have been arrested on Friday for exploiting people's humanitarian concerns via accumulating donations on pretext of helping most cancers patients and misusing the budget in their personal passion. The arrested were recognized as Vikas Aggarwal (35), a resident of Ghaziabad, Chatrendra Mohan (36) and Rahul Pratap (34), both natives of Pandav Nagar in Delhi.

The 3 operated a fake name centre on the identify of a registered social organisation, Human Care India Trust. Though the organisation is registered at Sector 11, the three operated from Sector 8.

Arun Kumar Singh, superintendent of police (SP), Noida, mentioned,"We investigated the matter and found the allegations to be true. A team then conducted raids at the Sector 8 premises and apprehended the three suspects. The team scanned papers and documents and found they had accumulated around Rs 5 lakh in the last few years," mentioned Singh.

The gang collected cash and in addition won cash thru on-line banking and cheques. "They used to get the patient's details from AIIMS and used them in raising funds. They used to collect funds for 21 days in the name of one patient. Usually, they collected Rs 6-12 lakh during this period. However, the patient in need was given less than 10% of the total amount," added Singh.

A case of cheating has been registered at Sector 20 police station.
