BHUBANESWAR: The state govt has added 92 further ambulances to its 108 fleet to offer emergency health products and services to the people of Odisha. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday flagged off the ambulances right here within the presence of health minister Pratap Jena.
"I dedicate these '108' ambulances to the people of Odisha. It will meet the increasing demand among the people for the service," mentioned Naveen while flagging off the vehicles.
In the primary segment, 24 ambulances have been launched by the executive minister on Saturday. The remaining vehicles of the fleet of 92 ambulances will be rolled out in a phased manner across the state.
The state govt had launched 420 ambulances underneath 108 service on March five, 2013. A complete of 500 ambulances have been deployed within the state underneath 102 Service to help the pregnant girls and in poor health kids. "Till date over 31 lakh people of the state have received benefit from the ambulance service. It has played a significant role in reducing both the infant mortality rate (IMR) and the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in the state," mentioned health minister Jena.
The 108 Service provides 'Emergency Ambulance Service' freed from price to the people of Odisha. If anybody dials 108, the ambulance will come to his/her doorstep and shipping the patient to a hospital with correct beef up. This fleet will include of both 'Basic Life Support' (BLS) and 'Advance Life Support' (ALS) ambulances.
"The state government has made a budget provision of 90 crore (over a period of five years) for these additional ambulances. We have also provided fund for up-gradation of 28 BLS ambulances to ALS ambulances to strengthen the existing ambulance fleet," mentioned Jena.
An settlement had been signed between Ziqitza Health Care Ltd. (ZHL) and the state health division on May 6 for the launch of these 92 further 108 ambulances. In first segment, the federal government will have interaction the 24 ambulances in districts like Anugul (4), Puri (three), Bargarh (three), Dhenkanal (three), Balasore (4), Bhadrak (three) and Sundargarh (4). All these new ambulances have an additional interior house than the previous models, which will make it more comfortable for the patient.
