HUBBALLI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is taking part in a very powerful function in making sure safety, tackling theft-related instances and helping and guiding educate passengers, said South Western Railway (SWR) general supervisor A Okay Gupta.
He used to be talking after inaugurating a two-day coaching programme—'Soft Skills for RPF personnel for better interaction with travelling public'—here on Thursday. Gupta said fashionable equipment like CCTVs are being put in at stations to make sure safety.
He said this coaching programme will assist in improving potency and function, and lead to efficient interaction of RPF personnel with the general public. He complimented the RPF for various good works completed through them, like rescuing unescorted children at railway stations.
He said, "As an innovative measure in train escorting system, an 'operation night hawk security system' has been introduced for SWR in the year-2017, to prevent passengerrelated offences, and to create fear in the minds of criminals, in which a special team escorts vulnerable trains, and patrol sensitive stations of the SWR. On an average, RPF escorts 35 trains of the SWR daily. As a precautionary measure, to prevent crimes against passengers and their belongings, and to ensure a sense of security in the minds of the travelling public, a new approach called, 'live train monitoring security system,' has been introduced. Control rooms of divisions and zones are monitoring and ensuring attendance of each and every train by the maximum number of RPF staff." He said RPF personnel had been incessantly interacting with passengers, to grasp the problems of passengers, and undertaking awareness campaigns about the modus operandi of criminals.
"During the year 2017 (Up to November), RPF/SWR interacted with 9,49,870 passengers travelling in various trains on the SWR route," he added. D B Kasar, leader safety commissioner, Channamallikarjuna, senior divisional safety commissioner, Rakesh Mohan, divisional railway supervisor Okay Shivaprasad, fundamental leader business supervisor S Okay Albela, the fundamental leader personnel officer and different officials and personnel were present at the occasion. RPF personnel got awards at the occasion.
