Two deaf-mute men killed in road accident

Coimbatore: Two deaf-mute males, employed at a motor pump manufacturing unit here, were killed after a truck crashed into the motorcycle they were travelling on, on the Coimbatore-Trichy Road at Sulur-Ranganathapuraj Junction on Saturday.

The deceased were known as M Pradeep of Thennur in Trichy district and A Samundi of Jayanthipuram in Vellore district, each 25 years outdated. "Both of them were working in a motor pump manufacturing unit at Ganapathy and were staying in a rented room. On Saturday morning, they were on the way to Palladam on a motorcycle. While Samundi, who was riding the vehicle, was wearing a helmet, pillion rider Pradeep was not. When they reached the Sulur-Ranganathapuram Junction, a truck crashed into the motorcycle. The duo was thrown off. Though they were rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital with severe head injuries, both of them were declared as brought dead," a police officer said.


Sulur police registered a case against truck driver R Rameshkumar of Namakkal district. Further investigation is on.
